  • Postdoctoral researcher of the NPR group recruited

    Happy to welcome Dr. Jabal Rahmat Haedar as the postdoctoral researcher of the Natural Products Research group at Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis. Dr. Jabal Rahmat Haedar completed his Master's degree and PhD studies at Hokkaido University focusing on microbial natural products research, including biosynthesis, genome mining, and enzymology. Currently, his research interests target microbial natural products unique to the Baltic region for applications in drug discovery.

    Happy to welcome Dr. Abujunaid Khan as the postdoctoral researcher of the Natural Products Research group at Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis. Dr. Abujunaid Habib Khan holds a Master's degree in Marine Biotechnology from Annamalai University and has received training in synthetic biology at Praj Matrix-R&D Center. He completed his PhD studies at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, where his research was focused on isolation and bioactivity of microbial natural products. Currently, his research interest is to unravel the vast potential of Baltic microbial natural products for applications in drug discovery.

  • Head of LIOS Innovation Hub recruited

    Happy to welcome Anna Stikāne as the head of LIOS Innovation Hub. Dr. Anna Stikāne has a background of biotechnology research experience in both laboratory and in silico settings, which she applies to promote knowledge exchange and partnering between academia and industry. After a PhD at the University of Leeds, she worked at Teesside University and the University of Latvia, as well as being involved in promoting biotechnology via involvement in the Latvian iGEM team and working with iGEM Startups. At LIOS Innovation Hub, she aims to support LIOS researchers to bring their innovations to the market and achieve higher research impact.

After PhD studies, he performed research on natural products biosynthesis at the University of Western Australia, Hokkaido University, and National University of Singapore. Currently, his primary research interests include microbial natural products unique to Baltic area.
