The aim of project Natalion is to promote innovation excellence of Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) by the establishment of Natural Products Research (NPR) group and implementation of LIOS Innovation hub as a complementary structural change.
To reach the expected project outcomes and impact, the following objectives have been set:
- establishment of NPR group including its capacity build-up (O1);
- setting up the research directions of the NPR group with the focus on new technologies and products (O2);
- integration of activities of the NPR group into internal and external collaborative projects including 3I mobility (O3);
- increasing competitiveness for attraction of external research funding (O4);
- establishment of the LIOS Innovation hub and its integration into institutional, national, and EU ecosystems (O5);
- development of motivating and inclusive institutional environment, which fosters innovations and entrepreneurial culture (O6);
- enabling institutional compliance to ERA priorities and UN Sustainable Development Goals (O7);
- dissemination and exploitation of the results of the NPR group according to Plan for the Exploitation and Dissemination of the Project Results (PEDR) and a communication plan (O8).
Successful implementation of project Natalion will lead to:
- nurture of brain circulation for researchers and innovators due to the international recruitment based on OTM-R principles (O1) and the development of institutional environment fostering innovations and entrepreneurial culture (O6);
- institutional reforms with focus on innovation involving the establishment of LIOS Innovation hub and its integration into institutional, national, and EU ecosystems (O5, O7);
- increased excellence of research and innovation attained by setting up new research directions (O2) and integrating the NPR group into internal and external collaboration networks (O3);
- sustainability of the NPR group by increasing competitiveness for attraction of external research funding (O4);
- better communication of R&I results to society by dissemination and exploitation of the NPR group results according to PEDR and a communication plan (O8).
